As part of our drive to reduce our impact on the environment, we chose to work with award-winning, innovative provider Dentaqua to create a less wasteful and more environmentally friendly approach to disinfection.

At Oakwood Dental Practice, we are fastidious about following the guidelines set out by the Quality Care Commission and pride ourselves on our strict processes, diligent staff and regular audits to allow continuous improvement.

Infection control is a core part of the CQC guidelines. Standard procedure for many dental practices is to use single-use disinfectant wipes to clean surfaces and devices in between patients. While effective, this leads to a huge amount of non-recycleable wipes heading to landfill – for a practice our size, that equates to around 75,000 wipes per year.

The Dentaqua system allows us to produce our own disinfectant on-site from just salt and water, the benefits of which include:

• Eliminates the need for single-use wipes, saving approximately 75,000 wipes per year going to landfill
  Reduced deliveries and associated packaging of wipes and sprays, helping to reduce our carbon footprint
  Eliminates the need for traditional chemical disinfectants, improving air quality for our staff and patients
