Your teeth whitening journey at Oakwood Dental Practice
STEP 1: Consultation with a Dentist
During your initial consultation one of our Dentists will examine your teeth and gums to ensure that you have adequate oral health for the treatment at that time. They will also discuss the whitening process with you, and show you the results that you are likely to achieve.
STEP 2: Express hygiene therapy
You will then be booked in for your express descale and de-stain with one of our experienced Dental Therapists. This will help you to achieve the best whitening results and ensure that your digital scans are as accurate as possible.
STEP 3: Digital scanning
Our Treatment Co-ordinator will carry out a digital scan of your teeth and gums. This scan will be sent away so that your custom-fit whitening tray can be created.
STEP 4: Fit and educate
Around 2 weeks later your whitening trays will be ready, and you’ll visit one of our Hygiene Therapists to ensure that the tray fits perfectly. They will also advise you how to whiten your teeth at home and answer any questions you may have.
STEP 5: At-home teeth whitening
Following the guidance of your Dental Therapist you’ll use your prescribed professional teeth whitening gel in your custom-fit trays in the evening until you reach your desired shade of white.
STEP 6: Review
Two weeks after your fit appointment, you’ll be booked back in with your Dental Therapist to review your results.
Who is the teeth whitening package for?
Our teeth whitening package is available to all patients at Oakwood Dental Practice. Not a patient of ours? If you book your new patient consultation with us in March, you can join us for just £50!
Teeth whitening is suitable for most adults with good oral health, however, it is important to know that only natural teeth will lighten. This means that any existing fillings (including tooth coloured composite), or restorations such as crowns and veneers will not change and may need to be replaced to match your new shade once you are happy with your result.
How long does it take to see results
You’ll see optimum results after 2 weeks, but the results you see will be strongly influenced by external factors like food and drink. During your treatment and for two weeks afterwards avoid any rich coloured food and drink – essentially, anything you wouldn’t want to spill on a white t-shirt!
